My professional goals in art come two fold. One of my own personal art and the other of teaching art to my students. I draw and paint mostly and I have grown little by little with each class I take. I really believe in art instruction for I see how it has worked on myself. For years I toiled by myself, learning what I could pick up from looking at art books and visiting museums. When I did take an art class in painting I knew I had finally made the right decision. I learned that the formality of a classroom made all the difference. I was motivated to learn and as I was exposed to new ideas. My goal is to become that instructor and have that kind of classroom. To learn techniques and articulate the lessons. I am a substitute teacher but I long for my own classroom. To have daily access to my students and set a tone for the way we will learn. Art is more than just drawing, painting and sculpting. It is a unique expression of oneself and one's world. I want to learn to become articulate in describing my ideas aloud to others who have seen my art. All this comes with repetitive practice. I believe that developing and challenging my own creativity in concert with my students work will have a symbiotic effect that will foster our ideas in which we all reap benefits.
